Critter Volumetric Lighting is a full-screen post-processing effect that uses a custom shader to simulate how sunlight interacts with objects and clouds, creating distinct and stylized 3D beams of light (also known as god rays). This asset is designed for stylistic top-down games and uses optimization techniques leveraging orthographic projection qualities to achieve pixel-perfect accuracy in ray placement and crisp edges without compromising performance.

Multi-layered 3D cloud shadows interact dynamically with main light shadows.
Rays from clouds and main light can be enabled simultaneously or independently.
Stylized & precise rays with crisp edges and precise matching of shadows on objects' surfaces.
Highly configurable manager script with simplified interface for adjusting settings.
Example material with simulated cloud shadows using a 3D noise function, along with a manager script that synchronizes all such materials with the volumetric light effect.
Cloud shadows can be simulated in objects' materials or in mainlight cookie.
